Fence Staining

In Western New York, we enjoy all four seasons (sometimes within a 24 hour period). Any wood fence (pressure treated, spruce, red cedar, or split rail) should have a coat of stain, or other type of coating, applied in order to protect it from the elements. UV and solar rays, moisture (including rain and snow), and a number of organisms that choose to make a home inside or on the surface of exterior wood can all be deterred by a coat of stain. We recommend using either Behr Premium Weatherproofing or Sherwin Williams stains. These are high quality wood stains that contains mildew-cide and algaecide (deterring mildew and algae growth on the surface of the wood). Behr offers over 60 different colors and wood-tones in a mix of transparent, semi-transparent, or solid color stains. Behr’s satisfaction guarantee on their finishes also ranges from 4 years to 6 years (transparent stain) or 8 (semi) on fences and siding. Some of the many benefits of having a stained wood fence:

• Protect your investment for years
• Preserve the wood’s natural beauty with a transparent stain or add a color of your choice
• Compliment your house siding and garden items
• Help to deter mildew, algae, and insect damage
• Help deter cracking, warping and twisting of the wood
